l asked the doctor if l will recieve another and he said no. any suggestions on how l could have the doctor do a ''medical'' ultrasound?
i thought about going to the ER and telling them that it hurt in an area that really does not to get 1, but i'm scared they will know i'm really not hurting. l really wanna know what the gender is.

my insurance will only pay if its medical.

my insurance will only pay for 2 ultrasounds and i have had the 2 ultrasounds that are considered medical.

I think u should just pay for another one yourself.

Even if u were to go to the ER, there is no promise they'd give u an ultrasound. Most likely, you'd get hooked up for a nonstress test & they'd monitor the heart beat. That is all they did for me when I went in TWICE because of pain. Besides, do not u have a co-pay or something for the ER anyway? Would it really be cheaper for u to do it that way?

Wait until u r further along & get a 3d/4d ultrasound - they r not really that expensive, & you'd be able to see a lot more!

Nothing like a little insurance fraud to start your child is life. As he/she is showing off pictures to their kindergarte class:
''and here is the prison hospital where I was born, here is a picture of mommy and mommy is bulldyke girlfriend down at the womens lock up..

You are done, accept it. If you want another, pony up and go to one of those 3-D ultrasound boutiques.

I would never recommend that u commit insurance fraud.

That being said, if u feel genuinely concerned about ur baby, then go to the ER now, especially if u feel no movement, have bad cramping, or lower right side (appendix area) pain, recurring sharp lower pelvic pain ( the key to that one is recurring = more ultrasounds) etc. If u have enough ER visits, they may deem ur pregnancy as high risk, & then u have many, many more ultrasounds.

If u want a better chance of finding out the baby is sex, then get really concerned & go to the ER in another week or two.

ETA: They WILL tell u the sex if they see it on an ultrasound scan if u ask. No one thinks that is weird, especially if you're worried u might be having problems. Women have pelvic pain all the time during pregnancy, & who is to say if there is a problem or not, unless they check u out. It is ur call, because ultimately it is a moral decision.

I had three super high risk pregnancies, & more than thirty scans with each. It was scary that they might find a problem at any time, but I also appreciated the reassurance that there were none.

Wow that is kind of sick. How would you feel if you lied and something bad actually happened? Just pay for the ultra sound. You go in lying about your baby they don;t necessarily do ultra sounds. They use the monitors and stress tests. Besides they would not scan for gender they would scan FOR PROBLEMS!

wait till youre 30 or more weeks then tell the doc youre concerned either youve gained too much or too little weight. they will do one to measure the baby & they will likely peek for the sex if u ask!!

I was embarrassed to ask the doc to do another one(had mine at 16 & 21 weeks) but then my 34 week appt. I was going to ask.. but he beat me to it cause I had not gained much weight. They confirmed the sex(girl) that they had guessed at the 21 week US.

good luck!!

ER probably wont do an US they will just stick the doppler on u to hear the heartbeat & if its normal thats it,

OR u could pay 100 dollars or more for a 3d nonmedical ultrasound.. I'd rather save my money though so I decided against that!

good luck

What ever happened to the suprise of giving birth and not knowing what sex the baby was? Is not having a happy and healthy baby more important than the sex, you are going to love your baby no matter what sex it is. There has been no proof that ultrasounds are completely safe so why put yourself and your baby at risk by having extra ultrasounds if you do not really need them.

Just pay for one then you do not have to worry it. It problably wo not cost more then 100..It would look alittle weird if you go in and say that your in pain and then ask oh by the way can you tell me the gender.

well u could go to the hospital..but I would just pay for the ultrasound!! Like a 3D or 4D one that they r now doing! :) I pulled the ''im hurting'' thing a couple times.and if you're over 24 weeks..they WILL send u right up to Labor & Delivery! LOL I did that once.and was like ''crap'' cause they hooked me up to all the monitors, & kept me there for HOURS & HOURS & since I wasnt contracting, no bleeding, & the baby is heart rate was fine.they sent me home. with NO ultrasound!! :( I think that sometimes they ''know'' that thats what us pregnant women r doing. Hell, they got to know!! LOL

go ahead and go to rhe er. tell them that your baby hasnt moved and that u have an unesy feeling about it. I had to because the dr. did there ultradounds and I never would have know what I was having if I didnt. do have ur dr. do it go to the ER. good luck

All insurance only pays if the ultrasound is medically necessesary.

I have no idea why ur doctor has performed both ultrasounds all before u were 18 weeks??? ( anything after 18 weeks even 16 weeks would have been able to tell u the gender)

Most people have a 20 weeks ultrasound, it has become pretty much routine already.

I do not understand why ur doctor has utilized both ultrasounds in the 1st trimester????

An anatomy scan around 20 weeks is very normal.

Go to the ER & say u have cramping- they will do an ultrasound BUT- not all ultrasounds r able to tell the gender, i had one at 22 weeks & the ultrasound machine at the office just sucked, they could just ell the basics , not the gender. Some machines r better than others.

i would say just pay for the ultrasound. this is your baby we are talking about. i know its expensive but money is nothing compared to your child
