Does insurance without maternity coverage pay for ultrasounds, etc..

Unfortunately, if ur insurance does not cover maternity then it would not pay for any of the expenses related to ur maternity care.

I do not know a lot about Medicaid, but u should verify ur eligibility because I think that just about every pregnant woman qualifies if she does not have insurance.

Also, u can work out a payment plan with the doctor & hospital. Often, they will give u a self-pay discount if u ask.

If the insurance does not cover pregnancy costs then it does not cover any of the stuff mentioned because those things are all pregnancy costs. It does not hurt to look more into those things though.

I like ur edited comments. I moved to Canada with my husband for work a few years ago & just because of health care alone we're not considering moving back. Even with the amazing coverage we both had through our previous jobs, it can not touch the system up here (only 2 ultrasounds were covered, most of the tests were not & only 60% of the hospital stay was covered - we now pay nothing, except for $2 per perscription). We're pregnant with our second & I could not fathom doing this in the US without having a nest egg of $10,000 saved up. I hope u find an insurance company u can work with. I believe there r a few that deal mainly with pregnancy - that may be a better option.

Check with your insurance company but if it does not have maternity benefits then no, anything related to
pregnancy wo not be covered. I can not see why a policy would exclude maternity though. That does not make sense.

you need to find out if the insurance covers prenatal care. If your insurance does not cover maternity, I would be concerned. If you are pregnant, I strongly suggest getting new insurance or MediCal. Everything is very pricey during pregnancy. One ultrasound could cost anywhere OVER $1000. Get yourself backed up by an insurance company. Keep yourself and that baby safe.
